How we verify
A certifier certifies. Halal Hub checks evidence and approves directory publication. We look for current, applicable restaurant certification from an accepted authority before a listing can appear.
Who issues certification
We currently accept current, applicable restaurant certificates from FIANZ, Halal Conformity Services (HCS), New Zealand Islamic Development Trust (NZIDT), Ayesha Halal Certification, New Zealand Global Halal Assurance (NZGHA), and The Halal Approval Limited (THAL). Listing an authority is not a partnership, endorsement, or a claim that we certify restaurants.
What we check
A reviewer confirms issuer authenticity, the certificate reference, dates, the branch address, and that the certificate covers that restaurant’s food operation. A vendor upload is evidence to review, not automatic proof. Payment, Muslim ownership, and cuisine do not replace a certificate. A certificate in the restaurant’s own name is published as Certified. A reviewed supplier or other third-party certificate can be described as Verified alongside a listing, but it cannot make a restaurant eligible or replace a Certified own-name certificate.
When a listing can appear
A restaurant is listed only after manual approval of an exact submitted revision, with a verified certificate that is still inside its validity window and recheck deadline. If a certificate expires, is revoked, or is overdue for recheck, the listing is removed from search until a fresh check is recorded.
Free and featured listings
Free and paid profiles show the same essential certification information. Featured placement is labelled “Featured · Paid placement”. Paying cannot buy approval, hide a report, or extend a certificate.
If something looks wrong
Use the report link on a restaurant page. Reports are private. We do not publish allegations, and we do not promise an unstaffed response time.
